What you need first to do the project of building a small waterfall for home decoration is preparing all the materials such as: heavy base container, flat rock or other material, waterproof sealant, waterfall pump, small flat waterfall tube attachment and pump hoses and tubes.

After all the materials you need are ready, you can begin the project by selecting a shallow dish or container for the base of your indoor waterfall. This dish should have short sides and a broad base and must be watertight. Depending on the size of the indoor waterfall you plan to make, this base container should still be large enough to hold a pile of rocks and the pump.

Set the small waterfall pump in the base near the back. Submersible pumps can be in the base container. Dry pumps should have a hose attachment that runs into the back of the base to suck up water. Attach the solid plastic tube to the top of the pump so that it points upward. Set this tube to the appropriate height. An indoor waterfall decoration should not be excessively tall, especially if it will be displayed on a piece of furniture that must hold its weight. Use the supplied fittings to connect to the waterfall top piece to the tube.

Wash all rocks or other materials thoroughly before use. Place the large, flat rock or other material, such as treated metal or a premade plastic form, upright in front of the waterfall pump tube. Position it so it completely covers the tube. Place a few larger rocks near the base for support and a more finished appearance. If you are using multiple rocks for your design, larger rocks should go at the bottom and smaller ones at the top. Once you have the right layout, use waterproof sealant, such as aquarium-grade silicone, to attach the rocks to each other and to the upright tube.

Position the flat waterfall adaptor at the top of the pump tube so it lays across the top of the flat rock. It should point slightly downward for best water flow. You can also use flexible tubing or a bent tube adaptor to make the water flow forward over the flat rock. Hide the top of this with a wide flat rock top piece or leave it as is. Attach the extra rock with the sealant as before.
